On the morning of February 22, 2025, at Song Hau Park Square (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City), the Can Tho Department of Education and Training, in collaboration with the Center for Environment and Community Resources Development (CECAD), organized the Climate Change Adaptation Awareness Walk to promote public understanding and community action on climate adaptation.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Le Thi Thuy Dung, Deputy Director of the Can Tho Department of Education and Training, emphasized that Can Tho, along with many provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, has been facing severe impacts of drought and salinity intrusion. These phenomena not only cause economic losses but also directly affect people’s livelihoods. Therefore, raising community awareness and encouraging adaptive solutions are essential. She also highlighted that this walk is a meaningful activity—helping students improve their physical well-being while spreading messages about environmental protection and climate change adaptation.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, 150 students from five high schools across the city participated in a 1.5-kilometer walk, starting from Song Hau Park Square, following the main road to Prince Restaurant, and returning to the starting point.

The event was part of Phase 3 of the project “Enhancing Communication Capacity for Climate Change Adaptation in the Mekong Delta” (CCBRC), funded by the Embassy of Finland in Vietnam and jointly implemented by CECAD and the Can Tho Department of Education and Training. The project aims to strengthen communication capacity on climate change through various activities such as training workshops, awareness walks, and debate competitions for high school students.
