CECAD and the Dong Thap Department of Education and Training organized a debate competition for high school students, encouraging local knowledge sharing and climate adaptation actions across the Mekong Delta.

On January 11, 2025, at Cao Lanh City High School, CECAD in collaboration with the Dong Thap Department of Education and Training organized the Debate Competition on Climate Change Adaptation, with 80 students representing four schools: Cao Lanh City High School, Do Cong Tuong High School, Tran Quoc Toan High School, and Thien Ho Duong High School.

Under the theme “Local knowledge and experience supporting the Mekong Delta community in adapting to climate change and protecting mangrove forests,” the competition offered students an opportunity to explore practical and community-based solutions to environmental challenges. In the final round, teams debated the topic “Youth as the key driving force in climate change adaptation,” showcasing their critical thinking and persuasive skills.

The competition concluded with Tran Quoc Toan High School winning first prize, followed by Thien Ho Duong High School in second place, and Cao Lanh City High School together with Do Cong Tuong High School sharing third place. Beyond the contest, the event inspired young people to become proactive climate advocates, contributing to a more sustainable and resilient future for Dong Thap and the wider Mekong Delta region.
